Reset the cps test and watch the timer before touching the pad. It should begin on the first selected pointerdown or non-repeating Space keydown. Inputs made in another mode do not count.
CPS test
Run a cps test with a fixed input mode and duration, then compare clicks per second, total inputs and consistency under the same conditions.
Also known as: cps test, cps tester, cpstest, click speed test, cps click test, clicks per second test, 10 second click test, mouse speed click test. Free, online, and no download required.
The timer begins on the first valid click or spacebar press.
What the CPS test checks
| Check | How it is measured | Fails when |
|---|---|---|
| Timer start | performance.now starts the run on the first counted pointerdown or keydown. | Input before the first event is incorrectly included. |
| Click count | Every selected pointerdown or non-repeating Space event counts once. | A valid event is ignored or a held key adds repeats. |
| Consistency | Events are grouped into 250 ms buckets and compared by standard deviation. | The run contains long empty or unusually dense buckets. |
How to run the CPS test
- Choose left click, right click or Spacebar, then choose one duration. The timer starts on the first valid input.
- Complete the run without changing technique or device. Record CPS, total inputs, peak rate and consistency.
- Rest before repeating the same mode and duration. Compare the complete runs instead of selecting one fastest burst.
If something failed
Select Right click before the run. The test pad suppresses its own context menu; clicking outside the pad may still open the browser menu and is not part of the sample.
Check the stored mode, duration, input count and completion time. History is separated by tool and saved in this browser. Resetting a live run does not rewrite an earlier record.
How to read the result
1, 5, 10, 30, 60 and 100 second CPS tests
Use the same duration when comparing scores. A 1 second burst and a 10 second click test answer different questions; the short run magnifies start timing, while a longer run includes more of the pace you can sustain.
Which input are you testing? Left click, right click and Spacebar modes count different browser events. Keep the mode fixed, use the same hand and device, and do not combine results from different controls.
The available 1, 5, 10, 30, 60 and 100 second CPS tests use the first valid input as time zero. The final CPS is total counted inputs divided by elapsed run time. No universal score proves skill, mouse quality or game performance.
How the cps test works
The cps tester counts the selected pointerdown event, or a non-repeating Space keydown in spacebar mode. Held-key repeat is excluded. The right-button menu is blocked only inside the test pad.
Quarter-second buckets show how input rate changes during the run. Peak rate comes from the busiest bucket, while consistency reflects variation across buckets. A brief peak is not the same as the final clicks per second test result.
No debounce is applied. Rapid events remain visible because filtering them would also remove legitimate clicks. Suspect an unintended duplicate? Use the double click test, which is designed to compare click intervals rather than speed.
What the result can establish
For a fair comparison, keep input mode, duration, browser window and device unchanged. Complete one run, rest, then repeat. Does the total remain similar even when the peak moves? That is more useful than choosing the best number from many attempts.
Local history records the mode, duration, clicks and CPS for completed runs. Use it to compare like with like. A 10 second click test should be compared with another ten-second run, not with a one-second burst.
The how to increase CPS guide focuses on controlled practice and unintended inputs. It does not promise a fixed gain or a rank. Stop if the movement causes discomfort.
Measurement limits
CPS describes browser inputs during this run. It does not measure switch force, hand health, server acceptance or performance in a game. A wired or wireless device can also follow a different system path, and another application may process the same physical action differently.
Browser scheduling can shift quarter-second bucket boundaries. Use the final event total and elapsed time as the primary result, then read peak and consistency as supporting context.
A result image or shared score contains the reported run, not independent verification. Repeat the same settings on your own device before using a shared CPS click test result as a comparison.
CPS test questions
What is a good score in a click speed test?
There is no universal good score. Compare complete runs made with the same mode and duration. This click speed test reports browser inputs, not a rank, ability level or mouse rating.
Does this CPS tester count duplicates from a faulty switch?
The CPS tester deliberately counts every selected event and does not debounce rapid clicks. If one physical click appears twice, use the double click test to inspect intervals under a slower task.
Where is my clicks per second test history stored?
Completed clicks per second test runs are stored in this browser's local storage. The site keeps up to fifty records across CPS tools, shows recent records for this page and lets you clear or export them.
What is a good CPS for a 10 second click test?
A 10 second click test is useful for comparing sustained attempts made with the same settings. Judge your own repeated results; the page has no verified population average or score threshold.
Is a 1 second CPS test accurate?
A 1 second CPS test is sensitive to the first input and a very short burst. Use it for quick interaction checks. For a steadier comparison, repeat it and also use a longer duration.
Why do my CPS scores drop on longer runs?
Longer runs include more sustained movement and rest loss, so CPS may differ from a short burst. Keep technique and device fixed, then compare complete runs of the same length.
How should I repeat the cps test fairly?
Use the same mode, duration, device, browser window and physical setup. Rest, reset and repeat in the same order. Compare totals and consistency, not only the fastest CPS.
What can the cps test not prove?
The cps test cannot prove game performance, hand skill, switch condition or a universal rank. It reports selected browser events and timing for this run.
